Our Year of Faith

Rally Day

August/September
As a new school year begins, we celebrate with Rally Day — a joyful gathering for children, parents, and the whole parish community! The day includes a parish-wide picnic, fun games and activities for children, and opportunities for families to connect. Children and youth can register for Christian Education and Formation, parents can sign up to volunteer, and everyone begins the year together, worshiping, learning, and building friendships that grow throughout the year.

Advent Preparations

December
As Christmas approaches, we enter the season of Advent — a time of preparation and anticipation. In the children’s atria and youth room, our themes reflect the story and meaning of Christ’s coming. We also celebrate fellowship across all generations on Christmas Cookie Sunday. Parishioners bake hundreds of cookies for children and youth to decorate, and youth take on the added fun challenge of decorating blindfolded. Children also have the opportunity to decorate creche figurines, which are then blessed on Christmas Eve. It’s a joyful day of creativity, laughter, and shared celebration as we prepare for the birth of Jesus.

Christmas Celebration

December
Christmas Eve is a cherished time when families gather to celebrate the holiness of life and the gift of Jesus. Several services are offered, beginning with our afternoon family service on the waterfront (weather permitting). This joyful service is designed especially for children and youth, and includes the blessing of the creche — along with the figurines that children prepared on Cookie Sunday — followed by the Eucharist. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families of all ages to worship together and begin the celebration of Christ’s birth.

Epiphany

January
As the New Year begins, we enter the season of Epiphany, a time to celebrate the revelation of Christ to the world. We kick off the new school semester with a special Epiphany Pageant on Saturday afternoon, open to children and adults — no acting experience is necessary! The pageant is followed by a fun pizza party for all participants. Sunday brings the return of Christian Education and Formation, as we gather together to learn, worship, and grow in faith as a parish family.  We end the season with Epiphany Lessons and Carols & the burning of the palms for Ash Wednesday.

Lenten Journey

Feruary/March
As Ash Wednesday arrives, we enter the Forty Days of Lent — a season of reflection, renewal, and preparation for Easter. In the children’s atria and youth room, themes shift to explore the story of Jesus’s death and resurrection, helping young hearts and minds engage with the journey of Holy Week. Worship takes on a more contemplative tone, with subdued music and the Alleluias set aside, inviting all to enter deeply into this sacred season.
Children, youth, and young families participate in a special Lenten Day service project, putting faith into action as we reflect on Christ’s love through service to others. Lent at Trinity-by-the-Cove is a time for prayer, learning, and growing closer to God together as a parish family.

Easter Resurrection

April
Following Palm Sunday, we enter Holy Week, a sacred time when families are invited to share in the Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil liturgies. On Easter Sunday, the parish is transformed with white vestments, vibrant flowers, and the joyful celebration of the Resurrection.
Children are invited to join in festive activities such as the Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Egg Toss, all taking place during the special Easter reception on the front lawn. These fun traditions celebrate friendship, community, and the new life we share in Christ. Easter at Trinity-by-the-Cove is a time of joy, renewal, and coming together as a parish family to proclaim the triumph of Christ over death.

Season Close

May/June
As the Fifty Days of Easter lead us toward Pentecost and the gift of the Holy Spirit, the themes in the children’s atria and youth room shift to reflect the ongoing life of the Spirit in our lives. While we ease the pace of programming, we continue to encourage families to engage with the balance and support that the church provides.
As the school year draws to a close, we invite families to enjoy the beauty of our waterfront setting during the quieter summer months, taking time to relax, reflect, and appreciate the gift of community and God’s creation. It’s a gentle transition into summer, offering space for rest, connection, and renewal.
